I just realized I never answered the poll question. Yes, Nintendo should keep making RPGs.
Most definitely. Mario and Luigi Dream Team is freaking outstanding and I would say its on par with being as good as Superstar Saga (even Superstar Saga had a couple of flaws in my opinion and its one of my most memorable videogames of all time). ... Superstar Saga is incredible, Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story were both good but had some iffy parts to them... mainly Inside Story but both are fun and worth the money.
I (sadly) haven't played Dream Team yet, but it's good to hear someone say it's on par with Superstar Saga.

Personally, I thought Bowser's Inside Story was just as good as Superstar Saga (okay, maybe not equal to it, but very, very close). I'm curious as to what parts you thought were iffy. I don't recall anything particularly disappointing about the game, but I might be forgetting something.

I think Partners in Time was kinda mediocre for a Mario & Luigi game. As it's own game, it's pretty good, but when compared to the rest of the series, it just doesn't measure up.

I've never played Dream Tream. As a Bowser fan, Bowser's Inside Story is my favourite M&L game although I have never completed it. I'd like to see more games with Bowser in a starring role or from the Koopas' perspective in general.

I haven't played it myself, but from what I hear the game itself makes people feel uncomfortable considering Mario and Luigi are inside Bowser, which is... Ew. Secondly, I hear Fawful is the antagonist... Which is... Kind of awful? I don't like him in Superstar Saga, and if he's got more screentime in BIS then that's all the worse.

I DO hear you get to fight Bowser's castle in BIS, though, so that's an automatic bonus point for the game.

Fawful is probably the worst villain ever. I find him so annoying and deplorable that he is one of my most hated characters.

Good man, we need more Fawful dislikers out there! (I wouldn't say hate cos that's too strong a verb to use on such a lame dude)

I feel like we need more Bowser time in Mario RPGs. By this, I mean we need Bowser as a villain, but he needs, y'know, actual dialogue. Rather than not getting to talk... Like in Sticker Star... :P

I only think this game will be good if they can provide the awesome story development and depth from the Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario series. I don't want it to just be a "WHOA THERE ARE TWO MARIOS" gimmick game. Also, how will this even fit into the Mario canon?

Those were pretty much my thoughts exactly.

As for the Mario canon thing, I have no clue. This is like the first time Paper Mario has been considered a separate character from regular Mario (which also opens up the possibility of Mario in the platform games being separate from the Mario & Luigi one). Not only that, this basically means the Paper Mario series takes place inside the Mario & Luigi series. Wut.

When you consider how there have been references in each series to the other series, it gets kinda confusing. Blocks from Paper Mario in Superstar Saga, Chuckola Cola and Bean characters in The Thousand Year Door, etc.

On a side note, this makes so many fan fics and various other fan works even more non-canon then they already were. Basically, anything assuming the Paper Mario series happened in the same universe as any other Mario game is non-canon now.

But yeah, I think the game could either be really good or it could be awful. Time will tell, I suppose.

Unless they use the same conventions that Partners in Time did - if you think about it, Mario was able to talk to his baby self (this time through time travel). In Paper Jam, he'll be able to talk to his paper self (maybe through time travel, but probably through something else). I'm sure they'll explain it somehow.
